When purchasing a column switch from a salvage yard in used condition normally you get a very nice unit since it is protected from the elements. Be sure to have the salesman eyeball it though to check for cracks or issues.
Unplug power to the battery. Look at it closely to make sure no cracks. Before installing be sure to move all the controls to verify they all work with no slack.
No known maintenance issues. Just don’t get made one day and slam your hand on it or it will likely break.
